In what came as a shock to the neighbourhood, a man went around Hampi Nagar screaming that he had killed his wife and mother-in-law on Monday evening.

Residents alerted the cops.

The deceased are Leelamma (61) and her daughter Vasantha (31). Their bodies were in the second floor of Leelamma’s house.

The man, a hotelier identified as Kumar G. (34), was arrested from his house in Chandra Layout. He had stabbed the duo following a bitter tiff with his wife suspecting her fidelity.

Leelamma retired as peon with the Information Department three months ago. She was living alone in Hampi Nagar. Vasantha got married to Kumar 10 years ago.

She visited her mother's house on Monday evening. Kumar reached there and picked a fight with her. In a fit of rage, he picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed his wife and mother-in-law.
