Man knocked down while crossing road

A senior citizen died of head injuries he sustained when he was knocked down by a motorcycle while he was crossing the Outer Ring Road near Hebbal on Friday night.

Police identified the dead man as Srikantaiah (65), a resident of Mallasandra.

Srikantaiah had been to Mantralaya two days ago and returned to the city on Friday night by bus. He alighted at Hebbal and was trying to cross the Outer Ring Road when a motorcycle knocked him down.

Besides Srikantaiah, even the motorcyclist, identified as Hariraju, student, suffered head injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

Woman arrested

The Basaveshwaranagar police arrested Sowbhagya (27) on charge of murder of her live-in partner Charan (27). Charan was found dead at his house with a stab wound last week.

Charan was working as a village accountant at Magadi Taluk office and had not been to office from January. He had fallen out with his family after he moved in with Sowbhagya.

Man nabbed

West division police arrested Tejraj (21) from Mandya and recovered 12 motorcycles worth Rs. 12 lakh, and an autorickshaw. Police said Tejraj is pursing his third-year engineering at Sampoorna Institute of Engineering, Channapatna, while his associate, Touseef, BCA student, is absconding.
