A labourer allegedly killed his wife in Sanjeevappa Layout in Sanjay Nagar on Wednesday suspecting her fidelity.

The accused Senthil (35), who works as construction labourer, was married to Rani (27), eight years ago and the couple have a seven-year-old daughter. Senthil had sent his wife to his native Tirunelveli after she wanted to pursue a teachers training course. Suspecting that Rani was having an affair, Senthil recently brought her back to Bangalore.

The couple used to have frequent fights over the issue. On Wednesday, Senthil came home drunk and had a fight with Rani over the issue. He hit Rani with a brick resulting in her instantaneous death, the police said.

Neighbours alerted the police who rushed to the spot and arrested Senthil. The police have shifted the body for post-mortem and have requested the neighbours to take care of the girl till her grand-parents come to city.
