A Planning Engineer with the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) allegedly smothered his wife to death at their residence in Devasandra here, and committed suicide later along with his father in a wooded area in Kanakapura taluk, near here, on Wednesday.

While body of the woman was found in her residence at Devanasandra near K.R. Puram on Wednesday, the father and son were found hanging from a tree in Kabbalu forest area in Kanakapur taluk in Ramanagaram later in the evening.

The deceased were identified as N. Anusha (22), her husband R. Vinay (27) and father-in-law Ramesh (50).

The police suspect that Vinay may have murdered Anusha on Wednesday morning and ended his life with his father later.

Local residents, who saw the bodies hanging from the tree, alerted the Sathanur police.

While Anusha was a resident of Ramohalli, near Kumbalgod on the city's outskirts, Vinay hailed from Venkataramanapur near Sathanur. K.R. Puram police said Anusha was married to Vinay in 2010, and according to her relatives Vinay had been allegedly harassing Anusha for dowry.

“Anusha's father Narasimhaiah had filed a dowry harassment case against Vinay,” an officer at the K.R. Puram police station told The Hindu . None of them have left death notes behind.
