Man held in Bengaluru for selling kerosene meant for BPL cards

The Central Crime Branch officials on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old man for selling kerosene meant for Below Poverty Line Card Holders under the public distribution system.

Based on a tipoff a team of officials raided Sri Ranga Gas agency on Heganahalli in Rajagopal Nagar and recovered 665 litre of blue kerosene stored in the shop.

The police have arrested Anjan Kumar, owner of the agency, who confessed that he used to buy the fuel from a person identified as Jagadish for Rs. 50 per litre and sold it in the open market for Rs. 60 a litre.

The accused has been booked under the Essential Commodities Act and Cheating under Indian Penal code and remanded him to judicial custody.
