Man held for selling PDS kerosene ‘illegally’

The Central Crime Branch sleuths raided an automobile store in Marappanapalya, Yeshwanthpur, on Friday and arrested its owner on charge of hoarding and selling blue kerosene meant to be distributed by the government through the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The arrested was identified as Gopal (60), hailing from Magadi. The police recovered two barrels of blue kerosene valued at Rs. 15,000. It is said that Gopal would buy blue kerosene from Public Distribution System beneficiaries at Rs. 55 a litre and sell it to commercial users at Rs. 70 a litre.

Prostitution racket

The CCB Women and Narcotics Wing personnel recently raided a house in D.J. Halli and arrested two men allegedly involved in prostitution racket, and rescued a girl from Mumbai who was pushed into the flesh trade.

The arrested were identified as Srinivasa (24) and Raja (22). According to the police, one Deepak, who was allegedly the kingpin of the racket, is absconding.

Cylinder blast

The owner of a lorry shed, Prasanna Kumar, sustained minor injuries when an LPG cylinder in the lorry shed burst at Papareddy Palya on Saturday. Three houses in the neighbourhood were damaged due to the blast. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and the fire was put off in half-an-hour. Prasanna Kumar was shifted to a private hospital and later discharged. Jnanabharathi police registered a case.
