The Kamakshipalya police personnel were in for a shock when a man entered the station and confessed that he had hacked his wife to death over a domestic row.

The accused Puneet Kumar (27), an autorickshaw driver and a resident of Sunkadakatte, was married to Pallavi (24) three years ago and the couple had a one-year-old child. According to the police, the couple had differences and had approached the family court with an application for divorce.

However, on Thursday, after series of counselling, the couple had mutually agreed to withdraw the divorce petition. Pallavi, who until then was living with her parents, returned to their home and Thursday night.

However, the couple had a heated argument. In a fit of rage, Puneet attacked her with a chopper and went to the police station to surrender. The Kamakshipalya police have taken up the case and are probing to ascertain what triggered the fight between the couple.
