Three persons were murdered in separate incidents in the city since Wednesday night. The police identified one victim as a security guard, who had completed his first day of work at a school, the second as a habitual offender, and the third as an autorickshaw driver.

Raghu Singh (45), a native of Manipur, had come to the city in search of employment only three days back. He reported to work as a security guard at a school in JP Nagar 6th phase on Wednesday. After work, he slept under a portico of a building close to the school. The next morning, he was found murdered with his face crushed.

When the school staff came on Thursday morning, they found the school gate locked and were surprised. So, they started looking around for the security guard. To their horror, they found him dead near a building a few yards away from school. They immediately alerted the police.

The police reached the spot and found that Raghu Singh’s belongings, including mobile and wallet, were all in tact and had been untouched.

The police are yet to make any headway in finding the assailants.

As Raghu Singh was from Manipur and all his relatives live there, the police are yet to get more information from them.

A case of murder was registered with the JP Nagar police.

When Sharavana was being attacked, a person identified as Shanmugam (23) tried to intervene and was injured in the process. The neighbours shifted him to a private hospital where he is recuperating.

The police said that Sharavana was accused in a kidnap and murder case, and that his rival gang allegedly murdered him.

Boulder, weapon here

In another incident, an autorickshaw driver was found murdered in 18th Main, 17th Cross of JP Nagar 5th Phase by passersby on Thursday morning. The police identified the dead man as Arul alias Harish (30), a native of Tamil Nadu. Arul’s face was crushed with a boulder.

According to the neighbours, the police said that till six months back Arul and his wife were living in the Vasavi Education Trust Layout. But no one was sure where his house was now as his wife had gone to Tamil Nadu sometime back. The police said that none of the family members of Arul had contacted the police.

The police detained one person for questioning. He reportedly told the police that the assailants had telephoned Arul and asked him to meet them that night. However, the police are yet to ascertain the facts, and investigations are on.
