A young man lost his grip and fell to his death from a coconut palm when he was cutting some fronds for decoration near the Venkateshwara theatre in K.R Puram.

Anand Kumar (22) had clambered up the tree to cut the fronds required for decoration for a wedding hall. As he was cutting one of the fronds, it gave way. He plummeted to the ground sustaining severe injuries. He was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries, police said on Wednesday.

ISI student suicide

A student of the Indian Statistical Institute hanged himself in his hostel room in Kengeri on Tuesday night.

Police said that Matang, from West Bengal, was pursuing a postgraduate course in Mathematics. There was no suicide note, said the police who suspect that he may have been suffering depression.

Mugged

Two men snatched two mobile phones from a pedestrian near the Agara bus stand in HSR Layout on Tuesday night.

Sai Shivramakrishna, a resident of Bommanahalli, was on his way home from the bus stand around 9.45 p.m. when he was accosted.

When Mr. Shivramakrishna resisted, one of them hit his head with a stone and snatched the phones, police said.

Arrested

The Central Crime Branch police arrested four men, all associates of habitual offenders Tanveer and Shooter Imran.

Mohammed Asif (40), Allah Bhakash (45), Syed Nadeem (25) and Mallik Sharif (30) were allegedly plotting to mug pedestrians by in Subhash Layout in K.G Halli police station limits, police said.
