The Yeshwanthpur police have arrested a 35-year-old man and recovered one kilogram of marijuana valued at Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 2 lakh in cash from him.

The accused, Mubarak, a resident of Sharief Nagar, was working with his mother who is said to run a drugs syndicate of 30 people in the city. When Mubarak’s mother, Fareeda, was arrested by the police last week, Mubarak escaped.

On Sunday, a team of policemen arrested Mubarak along with the contraband. Mubarak confessed, according to the police, that he used to supply drugs to college students and manual labourers in and around Yeshwanthpur.

He used to source marijuana from his contacts in Kolar and Andhra Pradesh, the police said. The police also recovered a car which was used to smuggle the contraband.
