The Basaveshwara Nagar police have arrested a 35-year-old man who robbed gold chain from 10 women in the last seven months to fund his upcoming Kannada movie.

The accused Ragappa Pratapa, a resident of Mahalakshmi Layout, was working as assistant to a private contractor with BBMP.

Rangappa was directing a movie called Double Meaning and was desperately in need of money for the project.

When he could not arrange for the money, he decided to rob people, a senior police officer said.

The police, during the course of investigations, stumbled upon a CCTV footage and zeroed in on Rangappa and brought him to the station for inquiry. However, he managed to gave a slip to the police and was on the run for over a month before he was nabbed from Andhra Pradesh.
