The RMC Yard police have arrested a 24-year-old employee of an eatery on charges of raping a minor girl.

The police said that the accused was working in a dhaba (a roadside eatery) near the house of the girl. She reportedly told the police that the accused used to sexually assault her regularly.

The police said that the girl came to city three months ago from north India and was staying at her sister’s house. Hers is a family of labourers, who migrated to Bangalore in search of work and decent earnings.

The accused initially befriended her and gradually began abusing her physically and threatening her not to reveal it to anyone.

The incident came to light recently when her family members suspected something amiss when the girl started complaining of stomach ache.

A detailed enquiry led her to narrate her ordeal.

Medical examination

Based on the complaint, the police have arrested the accused and sent the girl for medical examination, which confirmed rape.

The accused was remanded in judicial custody and further investigations are on.
