The Sarjapura police have arrested a 26-year-old electrician from Nepal, who allegedly murdered a woman in Sarjapura and buried her body in the backyard of her house after she demanded back the ₹ 8,000 she lent him on May 4.
The deceased, Pavithra (20), a native of Nepal, had come to the city with her husband Karan two years ago and was living in a rented house near Sompura gate.
Pavithra was also working as a domestic help in the apartment where her husband was working as a security guard.
According to the police, the accused Talik was known to the victim. Tilak told the police that he had borrowed money from Pavithra a few months ago. Pavithra started demanding repayment of the money which led to heated arguments.
On May 4, Tilak came to Pavithra's house when she was alone and crushed her to death with a boulder after one such argument.
The accused later carried her body to the backyard of her house and buried it before fleeing the spot.
Karan returned home to find Pavithra missing. He filed a complaint with the Sarjapura police, who tracked down Tilak following a detailed investigations.
Tilak confessed that the duo had an illicit affair and financial dispute led to the murder.
