Man arrested for alleged involvement in hawala transaction

City police have arrested a 46-year-old man allegedly involved in hawala transaction and recovered Rs. 7.5 lakh from him.

The accused has been identified as Kishan Lal, a shopkeeper in Cubbonpet. Based on a tip off, the police raided his office and recovered unaccounted cash.

“There was also a cash counting machine in the shop. When questioned, he has confessed that he was into the hawala cash trading from the last four months. We are investigating to know more about his network and others involved in it,” the police said.

The Halasuru Gate police have registered a case and are investigating further.
