Malfunctioning of spinning machine kills laundry employee in Bangalore

A laundry employee was killed and two were injured when a piece of metal sheared off a malfunctioning spinning machine and hit him, killing him instantly in Kamakshipalya on Thursday around 11.30 a.m.

The police said Mani Kumar Ray (42), a native of Assam, worked for Chaithanya Washing Tech, which washes brand new jeans turned out by garment factories before they reach shops.

The police said the trio was busy at work when the accident occurred. All the three were rushed to a hospital nearby where Ray was pronounced dead.

The police registered a case of negligence against Ambarish, the laundry owner as well as the manufacturer of the spinning machine.

The injured men, Jameel and Shabeer, are progressing.
