Lokayukta raid on five officials

The Lokayukta police raided 14 premises of five government officials in different parts of Karnataka simultaneously on Friday, and seized illegal assets worth Rs. 4.6 crore.

The raid was conducted in Bengaluru, Bidar, Davangere, Haveri, Kalaburgi and Karwar, a communiqué stated.

The Lokayukta police found the following government officials in possession of disproportionate assets to their known source of income: Rajendra Kumar, FDA, Office of the Assistant Commissioner, Commercial Tax Department, Bidar; B. Prabhakar Shetty, Executive Engineer, Davangere Mahanagara Palike; Shakunthala, Office Superintendent, Women and Child Welfare Department, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Devagiri, Haveri; Shivasangappa, District Manager, Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation, Kalaburgi; Arun Krishna Naik, Manager, TAPCMS, Jagalpet, Joida taluk, Karwar.

Criminal cases have been booked against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act in Bidar, Davangere, Haveri, Kalaburgi and Karwar.
