The Lokayukta police has filed a first information report (FIR) against Yelahanka legislator S.R. Vishwanath (BJP) and Bangalore Urban Deputy Commissioner M.K. Aiyappa for allegedly grantinggovernment land worthRs. 32 crore to a private person.

The Special Lokayukta Court had, on October 21, asked the police to conduct a probe into the complaint by residents ofMadappanaghalli village who stated that 32 acresand 4 guntas of banjar land in Survey No 62 of the village — in Hesarghatta hobli in Bangalore North taluk — had been given to Narasimhaiah.

The latter had, in a revision petition before the Deputy Commissioner, claimed that the land parcel to be his ancestral property that was phada land.

False report

The complainants, P. Anil Kumar, Harish and Muniveerappa, said that the land was given to Narasimhaiah — who was never a Madappanahalli resident — based on a false report by Special Tahsildar Gopalaswamy, following which Mr. Aiyappa bestowed ownership on Narasimhaiah.

The complainants said that Narasimhaiah sold this land to nine others 11 days before the Deputy Commissioner passed the final order, and that these buyers were the BJP legislator’s relatives and associates.

Bail for Krishnappa

The Special Lokayukta Court granted bail on Monday to the Janata Dal (Secular) MLC E. Krishnappa and two others in another case related to encroachment of land for a layout in Bangalore North taluk.

They were granted bail following personal appearance before the court, which directed them to furnish a personal bond of Rs. 5 lakh and two sureties each.

The Lokayukta police charge sheet said that Mr. Krishnappa and five others fabricated documents to develop a layout in Gowdarahalli in Bangalore North taluk. They have been accused of encroaching 4 acres of gomala land in Survey Nos 58 and 59 by colluding with officials.
