The Special Lokayukta Court received two petitions from separate complainants stating that their lives were under threat for taking on powerful politicians and bureaucrats. The petitions were filed even as industrialist Alam Pasha, another complainant at the Lokayukta Court, was followed and terrorised by unidentified men.
The first petition was filed by Channe Gowda, who helped the Lokayukta trap Sudhamanagar councillor Kumari Avvai. Appearing for Mr. Channe Gowda, public prosecutor K.K. Seethram told the court that his client feared for his life and urged the court not to grant bail to the councillor.
The other petition was filed by RTI activist T.J. Abraham, who had filed cases in the Lokayukta Court against the former Chief Ministers H.D. Deve Gowda, S.M. Krishna and B.S. Yeddyurappa, Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises managing director Ashok Kheny as well as several other prominent politicians.
Informing the court that his life was under threat, Mr. Abraham stated in a memo that if anything were to happen to him, the State government would be responsible.
