May 30, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

Tension prevailed for sometime on Devarajeevanahalli Main Road when a group of men, allegedly drunk, ransacked a liquor shop and beat up the cashier over a trivial row on Saturday.

The police said a group went to Unnathi Wines and demanded a few bottles of liquor. When the cashier calculated the amount and asked for the money, the group wanted the liquor bottles to be given first. This led to an altercation. In the melee, the group attacked the staff, smashed liquor bottles, ransacked the shop, and fled.

Soon, residents in the vicinity gathered outside the shop and staged a protest demanding its shifting. They said they had to put up with nuisance every day because of the shop and its patrons.

The D.J. Halli police brought the situation under control. They are looking for the attackers.
