Leaked video upsets family

“I wish I had given whatever he asked for. Then I would not have been in this position today,” were the words of Jyothi Uday, the Corporation Bank employee who was attacked in an ATM kiosk near Corporation Circle last Tuesday.

The bank manager reflected on the attack from her hospital bed on Saturday, when bank officials and members of a political party visited her.

However, her interaction with them was videotaped using a mobile phone camera and aired by some television channels, much to the chagrin of her family. Her family did not want relatives seeing her in that condition, her husband said.

Hospital sources alleged that the former MLA and Congress leader Narendra Babu had filmed her. “As soon as our staff intervened he stopped filming,” they claimed. However, Mr. Babu stoutly denied having filmed her.

Doctors at BGS Global Hospitals said her condition was improving and she was able to sit on her own.

Corporation Bank has paid Rs. 1 lakh for her medical expenses and promised to reimburse future bills.
