Lab technician killed in accident

A 36-year-old lab technician of Victoria Hospital’s Nephro-Urology Department was killed when he slipped from his motorcycle after a speeding cab brushed past him at Manjunatha Nagar in Basavanagudi in the early hours on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Srinivasa. Preliminary probe suggest that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of accident. He is survived by wife and two children.

According to the police, the accident took place around 12.45 a.m. in front of Sri Rama Nursing Home. As Srinivasa was riding fast to get to work, a speeding cab brushed past him. Srinivasa lost control, fell off his motorcycle and sustained grievous head injuries. Passers-by rushed him to a nearby hospital and alerted the police. His body has been sent for post mortem.

The Basavanagudi traffic police have registered a case of death due to negligence under section 304A of the Indian Penal Code.
