At least 100 employees of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) donated blood at a camp held in the city on Thursday.

The camp was organised by employees of the Kempegowda Bus Division of KSRTC Bangalore Central, the SC/ST Employees Association and the Indian Red Cross to mark the 123 birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar .

N. Raghavendra, honorary medical officer, Indian Red Cross, who conducted the camp said that 15 employees were rejected for various health reasons. Minister of Transport Ramalinga Reddy, , who inaugurated the cultural progamme held as part of the celebrations, said that while certain people were under the impression that blood donation could make a person weak, this was not the case. He said the camp could be held more frequently than once a year.

Somashekhar H., driver, KSRTC, said he donated blood “because he felt like giving.”
