As many as 11 passengers had a narrow escape when the KSRTC bus they were travelling in crashed into a fuel station at Goraguntepalya on the busy Tumakuru Road on Tuesday morning.

The bus was coming from Hassan and heading to Majestic when the driver crashed into a petrol pump after complaining of brake failure.

The staff of the petrol pump and a few others who noticed the bus heading towards them got out of the way. The bus ran over two motorcyles before crashing into the cabin of the manager and coming to a halt.

The passengers were unhurt. The driver fled from the spot after the accident.

Police rushed to the spot and seized the bus.

A KSRTC official said, “We are trying to ascertain the reason for the accident. No one was hurt in the incident. The bus driver told that the incident happened because of brake failure. The RTO officials are investigating. Necessary action will be taken after the investigation.”
