With confusion prevailing over the question paper pattern for the class ten preparatory exam held on Monday, the Department of Primary and Secondary Education is planning to ensure that the exam is conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB).

Tanveer Sait, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education, said that despite repeated circulars, the Headmaster’s Association had conducted the preparatory exam in the old pattern where the answer sheets and question papers were part of one booklet.

“We wanted students to refer to the question paper and practice writing answers in the answer scripts. But the error has confused students,” Mr. Sait said, adding that there should be a maximum of two preparatory exams before the board exam.

While many schools went ahead with the preparatory exam in the old pattern, a few schools cancelled the exams.
