A class III girl student, who was allegedly kidnapped by a man from the city and taken to V Kota in Andhra Pradesh, was rescued by the alert public.

Nikhita, aged around nine years, went missing soon after she went to buy chocolate from a shop near her house in Banaswadi on Saturday evening. Unable to trace the child even after hectic search, Nikhita's parents filed a missing complaint with Banasawadi police.

Soon the electronic media telecast the news about the kidnap of a girl. On Sunday, residents of V Kota found Nikhita wandering in the bus stand with a middle aged man and on suspicion they questioned him. Initially, the man pleaded ignorance and claimed the child as his daughter. But further questioning with Nikhita revealed that he was trying to kidnap her.

The alleged kidnapper was thrashed and the girl was rescued. Nikhita was later asked her whereabouts and one of them brought her back to Bangalore and reunited with her parents, police said.
