Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who landed in the city on Thursday afternoon, started off with a detox regimen on the first day of his stay at the Jindal Naturecure Institute on Tumakuru Road.
Mr. Kejriwal has come here to undergo 10-day naturopathy treatment at the institute for his high blood sugar level and chronic cough.
Soon after his arrival at the institute, doctors recorded his case history for further evaluation. They started him on rejuvenating and detoxifying therapies such as mudpacks, oil massages, steam baths and abdomen packs.
Mr. Kejriwal, who will rest in a cosy ‘Nest’ at the institute, had a diet of chapatis, organic vegetables, fruits, salads, soups and juices on day one.
Babina Nandakumar, chief medical officer at the institute, said Mr. Kejriwal, who has come in with insulin-dependent diabetes and chronic cough, was put through some basic blood tests and ECG .

“On Friday, he will undergo a battery of tests, including fasting and post-prandial blood tests for a comprehensive evaluation of his blood sugar levels after which we will start his specific treatment,” she said.
Mr. Kejriwal’s parents, Geeta Devi (67) and G.R. Kejriwal (76), have come in with a history of arthritis and chronic constipation. “We have started his parents also on the initial detox therapies, including mud packs,” the doctor said, and added that all the three would have a hectic treatment schedule from 5.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. from Friday onwards.
