The police have ruled out the possiblility of any foul play in the death of the 31-year-old software engineer, who fell from the 11th floor of the Alpine Pyramid apartment complex at Sahakarnagar on Wednesday morning.

“It was completely accidental. There was no foul play involved,” a Kodigehalli police official said. However, her unexpected death has left her friends and family in shock. Her father, S. Armugam, said that he was not in town when the incident occurred. “I had last spoken to Kavita about 12 hours before the incident. She had told me she would be going to a friend’s house for a small get-together. I came to know about the accident only later,” he said.

Police said that the accident occurred when she slipped as she was trying to jump from one balcony to another in the same flat, which was separated by a distance of about three feet. Kavitha, former student of Mount Carmel College, was interested in adventure sports. She moved to the U.S. after completing her course in Sir M. Visveswaraiah Institute of Technology. She had come to attend her sister’s wedding and had planned to settle down in the city.

Kodigehalli police registered a case.
