Karthik Gowda case: Court dismisses marriage petition

November 27, 2014 12:39 pm | Updated 12:39 pm IST - Bengaluru:

In a respite to the family of Union Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda, the family court in Bengaluru has dismissed a petition filed by a film actor to regularise her marriage with the minister's son Karthik Gowda.

Dismissing the petition, the judge said that the petitioner had not provided the required document as per the Hindu Marriage Act, to regularise her wedding. A mere photograph cannot be taken as evidence, the judge said, adding that there is no evidence to prove that they had tied the nuptial knot as per the customs.

“We are not going to challenge this but our focus would be on the criminal case,” said Akarsh Kanade, counsel for the actor.

Meanwhile, in the case of alleged rape filed by the actor against Karthik Gowda, the police are awaiting medical reports and voice test reports.
