Karnataka, which stood third in terms of funds collected for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to meet the expenditure during the last Delhi Assembly elections, has now slipped to the fourth spot in the party’s fundraising chart drawn for the upcoming Assembly polls in the national capital.

According to Prithvi Reddy, member of the national executive committee of the AAP, the party’s State unit is planning to raise 10 to 15 per cent of the total election fund of nearly Rs. 20 crore from Karnataka. The elections are likely to be held next month.

The AAP was expecting maximum funds from Maharashtra, followed by Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, said Mr. Reddy.

Karnataka had contributed Rs. 2.5 crore to the AAP’s funds for the Lok Sabha elections. Besides this, an identical sum was collected to meet its election expenditure in Karnataka.

V. Balakrishnan, AAP leader, told presspersons here on Friday that the party chief, Arvind Kejriwal, would be in Bengaluru on Sunday for a variety of fundraising events. The ‘Selfie with Mufflerman’ event was launched recently . A fundraising lunch has been planned and donors are invited to contribute a minimum of Rs. 20,000 and book their passes for the event.

“Those, who participate in the lunch can discuss on the grand political scenario and the party’s plan for Delhi elections with Mr. Kejriwal,” he added.
