Karnataka and Goa, third highest tax collection centre

The Income Tax Department of Goa and Karnataka region has collected Rs. 82,000 crore for the 2015-16 financial year. The amount is 17 per cent higher than last year’s collection of Rs. 70,000-crore, according to Mr. Jayaram.

Karnataka and Goa region has emerged as the third highest collection centre in the country, after Mumbai and Delhi. During the assessment year of 2013-14, the department received around 17.7 lakh applications and expecting to receive another 19 to 20 lakh applications.
