Karate instructor booked under POCSO

Faces charge of assaulting a 14-year-old girl

A karate instructor living in Bellandur was arrested by the Whitefield police on Friday on the charge of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl on Thursday. The man had been separated from his first wife and was living with the girl’s mother.

According to the police, the mother works in a garment factory. On Thursday morning, she had left for work as usual while the man left for karate classes. He returned around 12.30 p.m. The 14-year-old was also at home due to the summer holidays.

In the complaint lodged with the police, the mother of the child said that the man tried to hug the child and sexually assaulted her. The girl managed to contact a neighbour. She narrated the ordeal to her mother when she returned from work.

The man has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
