Kannada films, including Prakruthi directed by Panchakshari, Attihannu Mattu Kanaja by M.S. Prakash Babu, have been selected for screening in the Asian Film Competition category of the seventh edition of Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) from December 4 to 11.
The two are among the 10 films selected from countries, including Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Agasi Parlour by Mahantesh Ramadurga will figure in the Indian competition section.
Of the 45 entries, 11 films have been selected for the Chitra Bharati (Indian Film Competition) section. The best film will get the Suchitra Samman Award. Similarly, 25 entries, including a Tulu film, have been selected for screening in the Kannada section.
Experts committees have completed the process of selecting films for categories including, Cinema of the World, Asian Cinema, Chitra Bharati, Kannada cinema, Retrospective, Country Focus, Grand Classics, Homages, and FIPRESCI (The International Federation of Film Critics) award winners.
Regardless of the absence of a chairperson, the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy (KCA) is leaving no stone unturned in making BIFFes a memorable event.
