Sleuths of the Central Crime Branch have arrested a 20-year-old college dropout from Bihar, who used to dupe unemployed youth by promising them jobs in reputed companies in Bengaluru.
The accused Premchand Kumar lived in Singapura in Vidyaranyapura with his friends.
The accused, who had many vices, decided to make a quick buck and floated a fake job consultancy and advertised about the same in the media, promising youth jobs in IT and other sectors.
When the youth approached the accused, he would ask them to deposit money into his bank account towards registration and processing fee. After duping several youth, the accused would close the consultancy, open another one and place another advertisement. He would also change his mobile phone number, a senior police officer said.
Based on a complaint, the CCB sleuths were able to track Premchand Kumar and arrest him. However, his associates identified as Sourav, Amith and Vinay Kumar managed to escape.
Hundreds of gullible unemployed youth have been duped by the accused in and around Bengaluru, a senior police officer said.
The police ave recovered several mobile phones, SIM cards, a laptop and debit card from Premchand Kumar. Further investigations are on.
