Jaishankar back in Parappana Agrahara

January 09, 2014 12:01 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:35 pm IST - Bangalore:

Serial rapist Jaishankar was remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday after being in police custody for four days and was shifted to Parappana Agrahara prison in the evening.

He had escaped from the prison in September. He suffered injuries while escaping. After being discharged from Victoria Hospital, he had been under police custody.

The city police produced him in a local court on Wednesday to seek his custody for another two days. However, the court refused to oblige. Jaishankar was placed in judicial custody and sent to Parappana Agrahara where stringent security measures have been put in place, police said.

Investigating officials said Jaishankar allegedly bribed a prison official to obtain a duplicate key of his cell, which he had used to escape. The officials are now investigating from where he sourced the money.
