Karnataka Examinations Authority will not announce the rank list for undergraduate medical and dental seat aspirants.

Following the Supreme Court order, the Common Entrance Test (CET) held on May 4 and 5 is no longer valid for admissions to medical and dental courses, and the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) is the only gateway to secure an MBBS or BDS seat.

“The Supreme Court order has made it clear that we cannot announce the medical and dental rank list,” Minister of State for Medical Education Sharanprakash R. Patil said on Wednesday after an informal meeting with department officials.

He, however, said the Medical Education Department would hold talks with the Law Department and also discuss this matter with the Advocate General.

Dr. Patil said the KEA would announce the rank lists for farm science and Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy course aspirants for which it was necessary to evaluate the biology paper of the CET.

As many as 1.67 lakh candidates appeared for the biology paper, hoping to secure a medical and dental seat. A majority of them will now have to appear for NEET Phase 2, scheduled for July 24, if they want to get a medical or dental seat.
