Despite public uproar about the proposed realignment of the track in Namma Metro Phase 2 on Bannerghatta Road and in Whitefield, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) announced it would not review the decision on the stations and the realignment.

Those set to lose the properties by the relocation of stations at Jayadeva Hospital Circle and the alteration of alignment of the R.V. Road-Bommasandra line had raised objections to it. Similarly, several software park owners in the Export Promotion Industrial Park (EPIP) stand to lose both property and business by the proposed alignment of the Byappanahalli-Whitefield line. “The location of the stations on Jayadeva hospital premises is not feasible in public interest and also other public infrastructure cannot be dismantled merely to protect… some property owners who will be affected by the realignment decision,” said a press note from the BMRCL here on Thursday.

On the grievances of EPIP property owners, the BMRCL said it considers the retention of the BMTC facility integrating with the proposed metro station in the vicinity to be in the public interest.

‘Unilateral’

K. Ramesh, whose property near Jayadeva hospital is set to be acquired for the realigned line, said: “The BMRCL’s decision not to seek a review is unilateral and without public debate. When Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy have promised to look into the matter sympathetically, the bureaucracy in the BMRCL is taking decision on its own.”
