Two nine-year-olds in the city were sexually assaulted, the first by her mother’s boyfriend, and the other by a neighbour.

Mico Layout police arrested a construction labourer for sexually attacking the daughter of his live-in partner.

Umapathy (40), estranged from his wife, was living in with the mother of the victim for the past one-and-a-half years.

Police said the assault took place when the child was alone. Her mother later found bite marks on her and went to the police.

In the other case, a girl child was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Sampigehalli on Wednesday. The suspect, Lakshman, is in police custody.

The victim, also 9, is the daughter of migrant parents who live in quarters provided by their employer.

Police said Lakshman (40), who saw that the girl was alone, gagged her and raped her.

The parents returned to find their daughter traumatised and bleeding and rushed her to hospital where doctors confirmed rape.
