April 06, 2013 05:05 am | Updated 05:05 am IST - Bangalore:

An inebriated man died after falling from the pedestrian overpass at the Kempe Gowda bus terminus Thursday night.

Upparpet police said Shanmugam (43), a resident of Laxmanpura near Seshadripuram, was sitting on the overpass around 9.30 p.m. after having one drink too many, and keeled over.

When he landed on the road below, passersby had the presence of mind to haul him away from oncoming traffic and call an ambulance.

However, that did not help Shanmugam, who was rushed to NIMHANS with severe head injuries and blood loss. He was pronounced dead there.

Shanmugam used to work in a garment factory in Okalipuram and lived with his mother in Laxmanpura.
