Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations in the city on Sunday turned into a platform for demanding implementation of the One Rank, One Pension scheme for ex-servicemen.

Home Minister K.J. George paid tributes at the National Military Memorial here and demanded that the Union government immediately implement the scheme.

M.P. Nanjappa, an ex-serviceman who spoke at the event, said it was sad to see Army men who had retired after 16 years of service working as security guards for a meagre salary. He also demanded that the pension scheme be implemented immediately.
