The II Pre-University (PU) examination commenced across the State on Tuesday with exams for the statistics and political science subjects. This was the last batch to attempt a paper in the State Board syllabus as common textbooks on a par with the Central Board of Secondary Education syllabus will be adopted for the Arts and Commerce streams from the academic year 2014-15.

Most students felt the statistics paper was easy. B. Kirtana, a commerce student of Jyoti Nivas College, said: “The paper was easy and I was able to complete it in time.” She plans to do a course in Chartered Accountancy.

Those who had referred to previous years’ question papers felt that this year’s paper was more or less the same in the level of difficulty.

Anjali Bhargav, an Arts student of Christ University, felt the political science paper was easy. The college had also finished the portions well in time, she added. She plans to study law in future.

A press release from the Department of Pre University Education (DPUE) said two students were debarred for indulging in malpractices in Bagalkot and Mandya. The case in Mandya was of impersonation, the release added.

On Thursday, exams for biology and electronics will be held.
