Riches of modestly paid staff come tumbling out during Lokayukta police raid

A Group D employee of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike (BBMP) has been found to be in possession of six houses, three sites and two acres and 16 guntas, besides a sports utility vehicle. He was found to be in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income during a Lokayukta police raid on Thursday. The man, M. Kariappa, also the secretary of the BBMP Group D Employees Association, is among the four whose properties were raided by the Lokayukta sleuths.

The others arrested by the Lokayukta, include Registrar of Cooperative Societies C.S. Veeresh, BBMP bill collector N. Krishna and Kidwai Hospital technician Ankappa.
