Parts of the city experienced light showers Sunday evening, much to the relief of Bangaloreans who have been grumbling about the scorching heat over the past few days.
The weatherman predicts that the next two days will be cooler.
A highest maximum temperature of 36.5 degrees Celsius was recorded on Sunday in the city during the day, but rainfall after 7 p.m. in Vijayanagar and Dasarahalli (Peenya), and scattered rainfall in Jayanagar, helped in making the weather considerably cooler towards the night with a pleasant breeze.
There was also slight drizzle in Shivajinagar and Guttahalli, C.V Raman Nagar and HAL areas.
Citizens reported power outages reported in some areas like Vijayanagar, Mahalakshmi Layout and Rajajinagar but reports suggested it was a transmission problem and had nothing to do with the rain.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast indicates partly cloudy weather for the next two days during which rain or thundershowers are expected to occur.
The highest maximum temperature is expected to continue around 36 degree Celsius while the minimum level is expected to hover around 23 degree Celsius.
Incidentally, this was the hottest March Bangalore has seen in 15 years, with the city recording the highest maximum temperature of 36.6 degree Celsius on Friday.
In 1996, it touched 37.3 degree Celsius.
According to the IMD however, there will not be any considerable change in the weather conditions in the State during the next two days.
In other parts of the State, there was rainfall in Maddur in Mandya, and Magadi in Ramanagaram and at certain points of South interior Karnataka. Meanwhile, Coastal and North interior Karnataka continued to experience dry weather.
Gulbarga district also recorded the highest maximum temperature of 41.4 degree Celsius.
