Home alone woman murdered

The crime took place in Goraguntepaly

August 20, 2014 12:00 am | Updated 12:00 am IST - Bangalore:

A 30-year-old woman, who was alone at her home in RMC Yard, was found with her throat slit on Tuesday.

The murder came to light when neighbours noticed a strong burning smell emanating from the house and alerted the Fire and Emergency Services. A team of fire and emergency personnel went inside the house through the main door, which was ajar, and found Parijatha lying in a pool of blood.

RMC Yard police found that the assailants had ransacked the house and taken valuables.

Preliminary enquiries revealed that Parijatha had been living with her husband Vijay Kumar, a shop owner, their two children aged 11 and nine, and her mother in Goraguntepalya. After her husband left for work and children to school, Parijatha had gone out around 1 p.m. to see off her mother, who went to visit relatives in Sheshadripuram.

“There was no sign of forced entry. It looked like the victim had opened the door before being attacked with pepper spray,” Joint Commissioner of Police (West) S Ravi said.

A case of murder for gain has been registered and an investigation is on.
