Veteran filmmaker and cinematographer Hoskote M. Krishnamurthy, popularly known as H.M.K. Murthy (80), died here on Tuesday. He had been suffering from age-related health problems for a long time. He is survived by his two sons.

He studied cinematography at Silver Jubilee Polytechnic in the 50s along with noted cinematographer V.K. Murthy. He had worked with noted cinematographers Dronacharya and Fali Mistry.

He was the cinematographer for Subba Shastry (1966) and Papa Punya (1971), directed by M.V. Krishnaswamy, and Poornima, produced and directed by R. Dayanand Sagar in 1971.

Mr. Murthy produced and directed Dombara Krishna (1979), Raja Rajeshwari (1981) and Raja Maharaja (1982). He also produced the television serial, Sihi Kahi and documentary films. The Karnataka Cinematographers’ Association had recently felicitated Mr. Murthy.
