Hike Messenger, India’s first homegrown messaging and social media company, acquired Creo, a Bengaluru-based technology startup.

Creo’s more than 50-member team will soon begin work on a platform to enable third-party developers to build services on the Hike platform, according to a company statement issued on Friday.

Creo’s team, in the past, has introduced products like streaming media dongles and smartphones.

Hike Messenger was set up on December 12, 2012. Last year, the company raised $175 million in its fourth round of funding led by Tencent and Foxconn at a valuation of $1.4 billion.

Hike has over 300 employees in Bengaluru and Delhi. As of January 2016, it had over 100 million users.
