An SSLC student of Prakashnagar Government High School was stabbed on Friday by a student of class 9 for refusing to pay Rs. 2,000, demanded as extortion money.

The victim, Muniraju, suffered a minor injury in the back and was discharged from hospital after treatment.

The incident took place close to the school premises near an Ayyappa temple. The accused, aged around 15, and his associate, G. Naveen (18), a dropout from the same school, attacked Muniraju as he was walking back to class and escaped on a motorcycle.

According to police, Naveen, who failed the SSLC examination twice, had joined the 15-year-old to extort money from students of the school.

They targeted Muniraju after they found out that he worked after school. However, Muniraju refused to pay up.
