Head constable, three others held for trying to sell question paper

Central Crime Branch officials caught a gang of four, including a tutorial instructor and police constable from the District Armed Reserve for trying to dupe hundreds of police constable job aspirants by promising to provide question papers.

The accused identified as Vinay Gowda, (28), tutorial instructor at Sira town in Tumakuru; Narendra Babu (31) and Mauu Gowda (29), members of an NGO, and Gurumurthy (46) who is a head constable attached to Hassan DAR, were nabbed from a lodge in Cottonpet.

According to the police, the accused approached the job aspirants of police constable exam scheduled on Sunday. He took Rs. 3 lakh from each person promising to provide the question papers a few hours before the exam.

However the police did not find any question paper with them at the time of raid.

Sources said that Gurumurthy tried to source the questions papers and pass it on to his associates, who would then hand it over to the people who approach them with the cash.

The accused have been taken into custody.
