A head constable attached to State Intelligence Bureau allegedly committed suicide by hanging at the police cottage in Kumara Krupa Guest House on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Naniyappa Gowda (53), was deputed as security staff at the government guest house.

According to the police, Naniyappa was living in Koramangala police quarters with his wife and two children. On Tuesday, he went to police cottage (a rest house for the police) after duty and allegedly hanged himself.

The incident came to light when his family called up the Kumara Krupa guest house asking for Naniyappa after he did not come home. The other security personnel who tried to contact him went to police cottage to find the room locked from inside. They forced open the door and found him hanging.

According to the police, Naniyappa was suffering from diabetes and blood pressure; they suspect he was depressed because of this.
