A head constable attached to Sampigehalli police station committed suicide at his residence near Gundappa Circle on Friday.

The deceased, identified as Fakhruddin (39), returned home on Friday night in an inebriated state and hanged himself from the ceiling. He did not leave a suicide note.

According to the police, though Fakhruddin had been married, he wedded another woman six months ago. He did not inform his first wife about his second marriage. His second wife Shanu lived in Bagaluru, with her two children from her first husband who had died a few years ago.

Fakhruddin’s first wife lives in K.R. Puram with two children. On Friday night, he returned to Shanu’s house in Bagaluru around 8.30 p.m. and got into a fight with her.

Shanu told the police that Fakhruddin left home in a huff after the fight, and returned around 10.30 p.m. with more alcohol. He killed himself while the rest of the family was asleep in another room, said the police. A case of unnatural death has been registered.
