A 25-year-old software engineer Amit Kumar Chetri was killed on the spot after he fell from his bike and came under the wheels of a truck at Ramamurthy Nagar ring road junction on Sunday morning.

The deceased, a resident of Silk Board junction who belongs to Assam, was on his way to his brother's house in K.R. Puram. Mr. Chettri had hung his helmet on the rearside of the bike and was over speeding, said police. While reaching Ramamurthy Nagar ring road junction, he lost control and rammed into a divider and fell on the road. A truck coming from behind ran over him, killing him on the spot.

Passers-by shifted him to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared him as brought dead.

The K.R. Puram police have taken up a case of hit-and-run and efforts are on to trace the truck driver.
